YENTLE NOMHLE NYATSHANE
Yentle Nomhle Nyatshane, is a 22 year-old visual artist, currently based in Botswana (Otse). Self taught, their artistic practice is one of self- discovery, learning and growth through the medium of oil painting. Her work is heavily influenced by the traditional dance leg rattles, also known as Matlhao in the Tswana culture. Yentle’s paintings incorporate the leg rattles to express emotional reactions to both first and secondhand experiences.
Her current work is also about learning and connecting to their roots, an introspection on one’s true essence. Her first collection / body of work is titled, Tshimologo Yentle, (Beautiful Beginning). It highlights topics of emotional trauma, reflection and introspection, healing, adolescences and pays homage to their Xhosa and Setswana ethnicity.
