ARC X Alliance Francaise, Gaborone / French Embassy International Artist Residency Call Out. Deadline Jan 21 2024
About us.
A WIN WIN for each and everyone of our friends and partners including our resident artists, our Executive and Board volunteer DREAM TEAMS, and the wider community.
The Art Residency Centre (ARC), Gaborone, Botswana, aims to help develop and support the growth of a civil society within Botswana through the nurturing of the contemporary arts. We work with a wide range of disciplines including the visual and performing arts, music, video, film, and the written and spoken word.
We have a reference library/studio space, the ARChive where we place emphasis on archiving our current presence by drawing on material culture, ephemera, oral and written pre-colonial, colonial and recent histories to better understand ourselves.
The ARChive is a dedicated studio space for the current ARC resident. It is open to the public every Saturday morning from 10am to 12 noon at the ARChive studio/library, Gaborone sports and social club, the Village, Gaborone.
The ARC CINE CLUB screens local and international films once a month.
The ARC READING GROUP meets regularly each month. We curate, facilitate and host events for our residents and the wider community, across a variety of venues, working with friends such as:
The Gaborone Club, Sanitas @linnaeus, The Alliance Francaise, Perfect Noise, Thapong and Legabibo.
We offer local and international networking opportunities as well as diverse platforms for creatives to develop, dialogue and show their works.
The residency programme offers the selected artist support in the form of time, space and other resources to develop and grow their creative practice for a period of one month (30 days up to three months-90 days)
